    In May 2008 we did our first haircut and have been bossing our customers about ever since, going from strength to strength.

    Thanks to growing custom and the loyalty of our fabulous customers, we now have three stylists working every day during all the busiest periods, so waiting times for your chosen booking should be eliminated.

    Since we began trading we have been located in the rural village of Hixon in Staffordshire and benefit from the absence of traffic congestion usually associated with nearby Stafford and Rugeley. We are adjacent to a McColl's Morrisons Daily store with Post Office and a CO-OP (both of which offer free cash withdrawals), the reputable Hixon Chinese Takeaway and Hixon Fish Bar. The village also has an excellent pub; the Bank House.

    Shared with the mini market, Chinese takeaway and Fish Bar, we have ample free parking right outside our premises!

  • Relax...

    Should you arrive early or have a short wait for your haircut or head massage booking, you can relax in our modern and comfortable air-conditioned salon. We have very comfortable seating, tea, fresh coffee or water available, a TV and a selection of daily newspapers or popular magazines available for you to read. We are fully PRS licenced.

  • Choose your Stylist...

    We have three workstations which are all occupied during our busiest periods for your convenience. You may choose who you would like to cut your hair, or simply book the nearest available slot to the time you can get to us. We now operate an appointments system although we can occasionally cater for walk-in appointments. To this end, it is always worth while booking a slot for your chosen service, even up to 2 hours before arriving, using our online booking tool.

About Us

Established in March 2008, Chop Shop is a convenient air-conditioned salon for Boys of all ages, providing easy access for those who cannot travel in to town, and similarly for those who don't want to! We offer a friendly service and are conveniently located not far off the A51 and A518.

Known locally as "Sweeney Todd", Kate is the chief disciplinarian in the dungeonsalon. She has been chopping in Hixon since 2008 and for centuries before that in Stafford and old Transylvania before then. She often keeps souvenirs of her victimscustomers, so don't leave any spectacles, keys or ears exposed.

Bev has been chopping for as long as Kate and Sue, having also run her own salon for many centuries. Legend has it she talked Oliver Cromwell into getting a funky fringe instead of the sad centre parting, but just too late to avoid the old style appearing in all of his selfies.

Sarah comes to us having gained lots of experience in the hairstyling world. Sarah has worked in top class salons in the Staffordshire area, and is our new resident 'fade mistress'. After a short period of bedside manner adjustment, she will soon be giving you all grief like the rest of us.

Our experienced stylists can cut a range of styles using scissors or clippers. We also offer Indian head and shoulder massage (may not be available at busy times).

Hair Styling

The prices shown here are effective from 1st January 2023. We review our prices every two years and we believe you will find that we are still extremely competitive.

We offer a range of styles. However, we do not have any washing facilities so please ensure your hair is clean before you come to the salon.

We may have to refuse service if your hair is too dirty to work with.

Please note that concession rates (Seniors and Child rates) are NOT available on Fridays or Saturdays.

For over 16s and Under 66s. This rate applies on all days.

A Young Men's cut is for boys in school years 7 to 11. This rate is available on all days.

A Boy's cut is for boys in school years 1 to 6. This rate is not available on Friday or Saturday (rate for Young Men's cut applies on those days).

Pre-School rates are available for under 5s only. This rate is not available on Friday or Saturday (rate for Young Men's cut applies on those days).

Senior Citizen rates are available for ages 65 and over only. This rate is not available on Friday or Saturday (rate for Men's cut applies on those days).

A SINGLE grade zero or half will be charged at just £6.00. These rates apply at all times.

A SINGLE grade of 1-6 will be charged starting at £9.00. These rates apply at all times.

For example; a grade 2 sides and back blended into a grade 6 at the top.

Grade Zero or Grade Half blended up into any hair style.

Relaxation - NOTE: Kate only

Indian head and shoulder massage comes from the Ayurvedic system of healing popular in India and, increasingly (especially since the 1970s), across the globe. Indian head massage has become a popular complementary therapy in its own right and is commonly used as part of other treatments by hairdressers and massage therapists.

As well as working on the neck, head and face, Indian head massage works on the top three chakras (Hindu name given for points in the body), the crown (at the top of the head), third eye (between the eyebrows) and throat.

What are the benefits?

Like many types of massage, Indian head massage is a wonderful way to relieve tension and stress. Because Indian head massage doesn’t require the removal of clothing it is a very accessible type of massage which many people can benefit from.

Indian head massage offers a lovely way to release neck and shoulder tension and because of the focus on the scalp it is said to relax and revitalise the brain. It is also said to encourage hair growth as the massage boosts circulation enabling nutrients to get to the scalp. The facial element of the massage can relieve sinus issues and headaches. As with all massage it can aid immunity.

Where time allows after your cut, this gives enough time for a short neck and head massage, enough to set you up to face the office after a quick lunchtime cut. Just ask when you take your seat, if you'd like to try this.

Perfect at the end of the day, incorporating back pressures, deep tissue shoulder and neck massage, with temple pressure points. Not advisable if you have to go back to work as you'll be too relaxed!

All of the above are available either with or without a haircut (click on the links if you'd like to book), availability is subject to staffing and how busy the shop is at the time.

Please make sure you are at the shop at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled closing time to allow time for your haircut before we shut!
